MSU Officials Confirm Miller Was A Football Player

Miller left MSU prior to the end of the 2008 football season and has had no affiliation with the university since that time, an Athletic Department spokesperson said.

Officials from Missouri State University (MSU) confirmed to Patch Friday morning that Christopher Lemarque Miller was a defensive back for the Bears during the 2008 season.

Miller was taken into custody by IGH police Wednesday afternoon after allegedly attempting to rob on Cahill Avenue.

"He was a walk-on to our program, he was not a scholarship player. We didn't go out and recruit him or anything like that," Head football coach Terry Allen said when reached via telephone.

According to a statement from the MSU Athletic Department, "Chris Miller voluntarily left the Missouri State football program and the University in 2008, prior to the completion of the season, and is no longer affiliated with MSU."

The MSU football website says Miller transferred to the school in 2007 from Ellsworth Community College (Iowa), where he was an all-region cornerback in 2006.
