No One Injured After Garage Roof Collapses

Fire Chief Judy Thill isn't sure what caused the collapse, which occurred late Tuesday morning.

Inver Grove Heights Fire Department officials aren't sure what caused the roof of a detached garage on the 2000 block of 67th Street to collapse on Tuesday morning.

A fire crew was called to the scene just after 11am on Tuesday morning, Inver Grove Heights Fire Chief Judy Thill said. No one was home at the time of the collapse, and no one was injured in the incident.

“The roof had collapsed and was sitting on top the contents of the garage, and three out of the four walls were still standing,” Thill said. “The back wall had been separated and knocked over.”

Emergency responders spoke with a homeowners representative at the scene, Thill said, and secured the garage with fire line tape. The heavy snow that has fallen this winter may be responsible for the collapse, Thill said, although firefighters didn't inspect the damaged building to determine why it collapsed.
