Inver Grove Heights Police, Fire Departments Respond to Suspected Suicide Attempt

Police received the call just before noon Friday. The incident is still under investigation, officials say.

Police are investigating what may be an attempted suicide this morning along a busy road in Inver Grove Heights.

Just before noon today, police responded to an abandoned vehicle call near the 1100 block of 80th Street in Inver Grove Heights. The back window of the car was broken out, Lt. Larry Stanger said, and there was blood covering the interior of the vehicle. Officers also found a trail of blood leading away from the vehicle.

Police, searching the area, found an adult male lying in a wooded area 100 yards from the vehicle. The man, still conscious, was immediately transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Stanger said.

“The investigation is currently going on right now, but it appears to be a self-inflicted injury," Stanger said.
