UPDATED: Standoff With Armed IGH Man Ends in SWAT Team Arrest (AUDIO)

Update, 5:10 p.m.: About six hours after police first arrived at an Inver Grove Heights home, a standoff with an armed, possibly suicidal, man has been resolved, according to police scanner reports. Audio has been added to this article, courtesy of Police Clips

A SWAT team entered the home on the 8000 block of Claymore Avenue East and detained the suspect, according to to police scanners.

Update, 4:40 p.m.: As of 4:15 p.m. Friday, Inver Grove Heights Police were still involved in a standoff with an armed man at a home in Inver Grove Heights on the 8000 block of Claymore Avenue East.

Police believe the adult male inside the residence is possibly suicidal.

Police responded to a 911 call from the residence at 11:01 a.m. The caller requested that the police "hurry," according to a police report.

When an officer knocked on the door, he heard what sounded like a single gunshot come from inside the home.

Police have established a perimeter around the home and a SWAT team is on site.

Original post, 2:40 p.m.: Authorities on Friday afternoon were engaged in a standoff with a man suspected of being armed at a home in Inver Grove Heights, according to a Pioneer Press story by Marino Eccher.

The incident was unfolding Friday afternoon at a home near the intersection of 80th Street East and Claymore Avenue East, reads the report on twincities.com.

An official with the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office told the newspaper that the incident began during a welfare check on a man who may have emotional issues. Police were trying to get the man to put down a gun, Tim Leslie told the Pioneer Press.

There was a SWAT team on site around 1:30 p.m. Friday, the Pioneer Press story says.
