Rosemount Man Accused of Writing Bad Checks at Inver Hills Bookstore
Isreal Bryant allegedly wrote bad checks totally $1,349. He has been charged with felony theft by check.

A 53-year-old Rosemount man is accused of writing bad checks at the Inver Hills Community College bookstore.
Isreal Bryant is charged with one count of felony theft by check. If found guilty of the charge, he could face up to five years in jail and a fine of between $3,000 and $10,000.

According to the Dakota County criminal summons released this week:
Bryant allegedly purchased books at the bookstore with checks of $1,283.05 and $65.95 on April 27. Surveillance video reportedly shows Bryant at the checkout handing his checkbook to a female, who made out the checks.

On May 2, Inver Grove Heights police were called when Bryant allegedly returned to the bookstore to return the purchases. A store employee “became concerned” because Bryant wrote bad checks to the store in the past.
The store reportedly would not allow Bryant to return the books until the checks cleared.
Police discovered that Bryant allegedly was writing checks on an account that was closed on Aug. 22, 2011, because of excessive overdrafts. His bank reportedly sent a final account notice to him on Sept. 9, 2011.
