Search For Missing Minneapolis Man Moved Northward

47-year-old Andrew Wagner was last seen at a cemetery in Virginia, Minn. on May 3.

Editor's note: The comments from St. Louis County investigator Mark Steel were added after the story was published. Steel also confirmed that, despite initial confusion, the Office Max receipt was from May 2.

The search for Andrew Wagner has begun to focus heavily on St. Louis County despite his Minneapolis address and a May 2 credit card receipt from the  in Inver Grove Heights.

Office Max public relations manager Nicole Miller told Patch the company would not comment on an ongoing investigation. But Office Max did assist the investigation by providing a copy of Wagner's receipt to St. Louis County Sheriff's deputies, according to Wagner family spokesperson Lara Brown.

Although he could not reveal the contents of the receipt, St. Louis County investigator Mark Steel did say that there was nothing "out of the ordinary" listed on it.

Inver Grove Heights Lt. Sean Folmar told Patch that IGH Police would not get involved in the search for Wagner because the case originated in Virginia, Minn. If the St. Louis County Sheriff's office requested assistance, it would likely be granted, but that request has not come, Folmar said.

According to Brown, Minneapolis police are also reluctant to get involved in the case because Wagner's last known location was in northern Minnesota.

"I just called the [Minneapolis] precinct to find out if anything changes now that more than a week has passed since Andrew went missing and was told that it does not," Brown said.

Investigator Steel did point out that, at present, there is nothing to indicate foul play in the case. "Right now, there is no evidence of a crime. We're just trying to check on the well-being of Mr. Wagner."

Brown was also quick to compliment the St. Louis County effort.

"It's worth noting that the detectives and investigators in St. Louis County have been active, communicative, and kind since my first call to them," Brown said

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Andrew Wagner is being asked to contact the St. Louis County Sheriff's Department.
