Sheriff: Lake Byllesby Closed Until Further Notice

Recent rains have led to high waters and threats to public safety.

Dakota County Sheriff Dave Bellows ordered Lake Byllesby closed due to high water levels.

According to a Friday statement from the Sheriff's Office:

The recent rains have resulted in high water levels at Lake Byllesby in southern Dakota County. For public safety reasons, the boat launch at Lake Byllesby has been closed. No boat traffic is allowed on the lake at this time.

The Sheriff’s website will be updated when the boat launch reopens to the public and boat traffic is once again permitted. You can check the website at the following address for updates:

When the launch reopens, a no wake zone will remain in effect until further notice.

The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), will be enforcing violations occurring on the lake, including wake zone compliance.
