South Dakota Predator Extradited After Failing to Register in South St. Paul

Leonard was officially charged with being a fugitive from justice, which is a felony.

A 28-year-old predatory offender was extradited back to South Dakota after South St. Paul police realized he had an active warrant out for his arrest. 

According to a recent criminal complaint, Timothy Lafayette Leonard is a registered sex offender in South Dakota but failed to notify authorities when he moved to Dakota County. 

After a further check of Leonard's criminal history, South St. Paul officers realized he had a probation violation warrant for aggregated grand theft and possession of stolen property.

Leonard was officially charged with being a fugitive from justice, which is a felony. 

On September 18, 2012, officers responded to the defendant’s residence and transported him to the Dakota County Jail.

The complaint states, South Dakota authorities confirmed the warrant and confirmed that they would extradite the defendant.

A check on Sept. 24 revealed that Leonard is no longer being held in the Dakota County Jail.
