Woman Accused of Sending Anti-Semitic Emails to Inver Grove Heights Business

Denise Louise Smith of Little Canada is charged with felony stalking.

A Little Canada woman has been charged with stalking after police say she sent threatening, anti-Semitic emails to employees at an Inver Grove Heights business from which her husband had been fired.

Denise Louise Smith, 51, is charged with felony stalking, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, Inver Grove Heights police learned in November 2009 that several employees of the business had received emails from an address that contained the word “Madoff” in the account name.

The emails were sent between Nov. 5, 2009 and April 30, 2010, and some of them contained anti-Semitic slurs and told the recipients that they were going to get caught, be “brought down” or were going to go to prison.

Police acquired an administrative subpoena to determine the location and subscriber information associated with the IP address, and learned that the email address was registered to Smith’s husband, who was fired from his job in Inver Grove Heights on Aug. 8, 2008.
