Council to Discuss Allowing Chicken Farming in Residential Areas

The Inver Grove Heights City Council will review the first reading of a draft ordinance at tonight's meeting that could allow for chicken farming at single-family residences within city limits.

Chicken farming may soon not be limited to just argricultural zones in the City of Inver Grove Heights. The council has directed staff to prepare an amendment to the current ordinance to allow for chicken farming at single-family residences in city limits, according to the City of Inver Grove Heights website.

The City Council will review the first reading of the draft ordinance on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. The ordinance would be reviewed at two more meetings before final action would be taken. The first draft of the ordinance is posted below.
