IGH Council to Consider Police Chief Appointment

The council is expected to remove "acting" from Larry Stanger's job title and make him permanent police chief.

The Inver Grove City Council will consider removing “acting” from Larry Stanger’s job title during its Monday night meeting.

The council—meeting for the first time in nearly a month because of the December holidays—are expected to vote to appoint Stanger as the city’s permanent police chief.

Stanger, who has been an Inver Grove Heights Police officer since 1989, has been acting police chief since July 1, 2011, when former officially retired.

At the time of his appointment as acting chief, Stanger was a lieutenant on the police force. His appointment was for six months.

• Considering an ordinance to rezone Salem Square Shopping Center from B-4, shopping center district, to B-3, general business district.

• Hearing the first reading of a proposed ordinance amendment dealing with licensure of secondhand goods dealers.

• Considering an agreement for a third-party review of the polished concrete floor in the public safety addition/City Hall renovation.

• Making appointments for official newspaper, official depositories, acting mayor, council delegate to the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities and deputy weed inspector.
