A public hearing on City Project 2011-08, (66th Street from Concord Boulevard to the Swing Bridge) and City Project 2011-21, Park  Improvements (66th Street Parking Lot and Related Trails).

The total projected cost for the pavement portion is $528,802 and $392,332 for the park improvement portion. Funding comes from county turn back funds to the city, Dakota County, a DNR grant and other funds.

The timeline includes completion by June 30, 2012.

Assessments will total $208,345.

“This neighborhood is predominantly businesses. There are two or three different large businesses that are adjacent to it,” City Engineer Tom Kaldunski said.

River Heights Marina owner Joe Harms came to the meeting in opposition of the project.

“The only reason this is being done is because of the park project that is going on,” he said adding he never complained about the condition of the road.

Kaldunski said the road improvements are part of the county turn back funds when the city received the road back from the county.

“The county gave us a specific amount of money to improve the road, so we are using that $290 plus (thousand) dollars to improve the road,” he said.

Councilmember Rosemary Piekarski Krech was absent from the meeting.
