Inver Grove Council Approves Expansion Plans for Inver Glen Library

The city council Monday unanimously approved a project that will increase the facilities size by more than one third.

After sending architects and the Dakota County Library Board back to the drawing board earlier this year, the Inver Grove City Council took just moments to approve the revised expansion plans for the Inver Glen Library, located at 8098 Blaine Avenue in IGH.
"We're really excited about these changes, and we look forward to the new improvements at the facility," said IGH Mayor George Tourville. "There are a lot of people waiting for it, that's for sure."
A 12,000 square-foot facility, Inver Glen was constructed and opened right around the turn of this century, with grand openings in 2000.
This more than 4,000 square-foot expansion gives the library an additional entrance, more than 25 new parking spaces and space for large and small meeting rooms. Additional reading space will be available, too.
"We're pleased with what we came back to present to you," said Dakota County Planner Joe Lexa, who presented the changes at the Monday, July 22 council meeting.
Paul Newhouse of Perkins and Will, the architects hired for the project, said the additions were designed to fit in with the current structure and be more pleasing to the eye than the changes presented last June.
All parties are eyeing a completion by next summer, with special promotions scheduled by the Dakota Library Board in 2014.
