  • The Minnesota Department of Transportation approved a construction project that will add turn lanes at the intersection of Hwy. 3 and Autumn Way as part of the ongoing development of the Argenta Hills neighborhood. IGH Investments, LLC., the developer behind the Argenta Hills project, is responsible for paying for the additional of turn lanes to Hwy. 3. However, the project is eligible for funding from MnDOT, and the department has said it is willing to provide several hundred thousand dollars to help pay for the project. On Monday, the council may vote to send a request to MnDOT for the funding on behalf of the city and the developer.
  • The council may vote on Monday to approve a conditional use permit for Mauer Chevrolet, a local car dealership. The permit would allow the dealership to construct a 26,000 square foot addition to its existing operations along Hwy. 110 in Inver Grove Heights. The dealership also plans to remove a portion of its existing facilities, so that the net gain of building space would be 5,000 square feet. To read more about the dealership's plans, click here.
  • The council is expected to vote on the second reading of an ordinance amendment that would change the scheduled meeting times for Inver Grove Heights City Council meetings from 7:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The first meeting that the time change would affect is the regular meeting of September 12.

  • This fall, the school district will ask voters to approve a $700,000 capital projects levy, as well as two other proposed operating levies. The district is required by Minnesota law to send information concerning that capital projects levy to the Minnesota Commissioner of Education for review and comment. The board is expected to vote tonight whether to send capital projects levy material to the commissioner.
  • The Inver Grove Heights School Board plans to discuss its facilities, the 2011 legislative session and the 2011 levy referendum campaign at a work session following its regular board meeting.
