Inver Grove Heights City Council, School Board Preview

Both the Inver Grove Heights City Council and school board hold meetings on Monday night. Here's a look at what's on their agendas.

The Inver Grove Heights City Council and the District 199 School Board are both holding public meetings on Monday night. Here's a preview of the agendas for the two groups:

  • The council is expected to hold a public hearing on a series proposed improvements to Skyview Park. City officials are considering that could support football, soccer or lacrosse. City Parks and Recreation Director Eric Carlson estimated after the meeting that re-grading the fields and installing irrigation systems could cost as much as $150,000.
  • Council members may also vote to approve modifications to the city's liquor store ordinance that would allow. Under the current ordinance, a liquor store acquired by the government that was within 500 feet of a school or church, may relocate within 500 feet of the same school or church as long as the relocation occurs within three years of the acquisition. An amendment to the ordinance would lengthen the time limit for relocation to 42 months.
  • The council may vote to approve an As part of the contract, the company would set up a mobile sales unit at the city's Frisbee golf course in North and South Valley Parks and charge a daily or annual fee to use the course. The city-owned course doesn't currently charge a fee for use.
  • The school board is expected to vote to accept several grants and gifts to the school district, including a $5,200 donation from the Simley Spartan Blue Line Club to pay for stipends for additional coaches and the donation of 209 Xcel Energy LivingWise Energy Conservation Kits to be used by two Inver Grove Heights Middle School Science Classes.
