  • A troubled housing development on the south side of Inver Grove Heights has fallen into foreclosure, and the Inver Grove Heights City Council may vote to release developer IGH Development, LLC. from the development contract. Summit Pines consists of 38 residential lots, but only two of the lots have been sold since the development contract was signed in 2006.
  • The Inver Grove Heights EDA is considering the acquistion of two excess properties from . The properties—a 4.6-acre parcel at the northwest corner of 70th Street and Babcock Trail and a 10.8-acre parcel on the south side of 70th Street near the golf course parking lot, may be sold to private developers for the construction of housing developments or, in the case of the larger parcel, a hotel/conference center. The council is expected to vote whether to hire a consulting firm to appraise the properties, prior to the expected sale of both parcels.
  • The council may vote to approve a contract with the Inver Grove Heights Youth Hockey Association to allow the group to operate a concession stand in . Under the terms of the contract, the association will pay the city $800 a month and give the city 12 percent of its gross revenues.
  • Finance Director Ann Lanoue may be leaving the city. On Monday, the council is likely to vote whether to approve a separation agreement between the city and Lanoue. According to a memo published by City Administrator Joe Lynch, the separation agreement is the result of a "mutual agreement" between Lanoue and city officials. The city's Finance Department has been the subject of numerous technological innovations and upgrades—and those changes are a significant factor in Lanoue's departure, Lynch wrote in the memo. Lynch will be meeting with the Finance Department over the next several weeks and will return to the council with a plan on what to do next with this position and the structure for the future.
  • For more than a month, the council has been hard at work hammering out its 2012 budget. As part of that effort, council members are expected on Monday to vote whether to approve a preliminary 2012 tax levy of $15,736,146, a $260,350 increase over the $15,475,796 levied in 2011. This is a preliminary amount, and the proposed levy can change between now and December, when the final levy is approved.
  • The council is expected to approve the appointment of local officials to steering and technical advisory committees for the development of the Robert Street Transitway AA Study. The study includes the assessment of existing and future transportation needs, detailed analysis of potential capital and operational investments in transit service, and a local decision making process emphasizing involvement of the general public and both elected and appointed officials from within the study area.
