Next time you experience morning rush-hour traffic out of Inver Grove Heights, you've a number to explain why.

According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, a new report by the U.S. Census Bureau puts Crystal as the 10th-biggest "bedroom community" in the Twin Cities, with a 32 percent daily net loss in population from commuting. The report shows that Inver Grove Heights' percentage is not far behind at 27.5 percent. Meanwhile, "job-magnet" communities such as Bloomington gain population during the workday.

The data comes from the American Community Survey, which samples 250,000 households every month and uses sophisticated analysis techniques to extrapolate those results into community-wide trends.
