Inver Grove Heights Resident Rep. Joe Atkins to Host State Fair Town Hall

For the third straight year Mendota Heights' Joe Atkins will kick off the Great Minnesota Get-Together with a Town Hall-style meeting at the Education Building.

The Minnesota State Fair is just around the corner. Since 1859, Minnesotans have come from every corner of the state to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of The Great Minnesota Get Together. This year Rep. Joe Atkins and Rep. Rick Hansen will again be on hand at the Fair answering constituent questions, taking suggestions for legislation, and spending time with people from the community.

"The Minnesota State Fair is one of the great Minnesota traditions,” said Rep. Atkins. “It is a terrific opportunity to catch up with folks and find out what’s important to them.”

Rep. Atkins and Rep. Hansen will be at the State Fair on Thursday, August 22 from 10 am to noon at the Minnesota House of Representatives booth located in the Education Building on Cosgrove Street. This is the first day of the State Fair.

"In between cheese curds and pronto pups, I encourage constituents to visit with us about legislative questions and concerns,” said Atkins. “Or just to come by and let us know if there are any new foods we ought to try this year.”

Atkins is serving his sixth term in the Minnesota House of Representatives. He is the Chair of the House Commerce and Consumer Protection Committee.  Hansen is in his fourth term. This is the third year in a row they have held a town meeting together on the first day of the State Fair.
