POLL: How Do You Feel About a Domestic Partner Registry?

On Monday, the Inver Grove Heights City Council voted down a proposed domestic partner registry. Did they do the right thing?

The failure of a proposed domestic partner registry in Inver Grove Heights is getting plenty of regional media coverage from the likes of the Pioneer Press, MinnPost and other outlets.

If approved, the registry would have allowed unmarried, homosexual and heterosexual couples living in the city to formally document their relationship. Proponents said it would help those couples access health care and insurance benefits through employers, while critics said the city shouldn't weigh in on a moral issue.

The council voted 4-1 not to approve the first reading of the ordinance on Monday night. Did they make the right decision? Tell us how you feel by answering our poll.
