2012 Simley ACT Scores Tie For Highest in History

tradition of academic excellence hit another milestone this summer after the school received a 23.4 composite ACT score for 2012. This year's score tied for the highest composite average in school history.

Statistics released from ACT Education showed an overall improvement of 0.8 points in Simley’s ACT scores this year as compared to the 2011 numbers.

The four core areas of learning—English, math, reading and science—showed an increase of at least 0.7 points from last year. The largest increase was in reading, where Simley’s average score was a full point higher than in 2011.

Simley’s strongest section this year was science, where students received an average score of 23.7—a full point higher than the state average. Simley’s 2012 composite score was also higher than the state average by 0.6 points.

“Our staff is doing an outstanding job carrying out Simley’s mission of preparing every student for college readiness and success,” said Director of Secondary Instruction/Simley Principal Gerald Sakala. “Students at Simley are dedicated and driven, and their scores indicate that they are getting good value out of their education at Simley."

Simley offers numerous academic enhancement opportunities, including 14 Advanced Placement courses. According to a prepared statement from District 199, "All students are challenged to work toward reaching their full potential, which creates a high standard of learning in the classroom."

Superintendent Dr. Deirdre Wells attributed the latest academic success to hard work from students and staff. 

“These high test scores are a result of the quality education students receive at Simley High School. Clearly the determination and effort put forth from both students and staff make Simley one of the premier high schools in the state. Our students want to be successful and the scores show it.”

Congratulations to Simley High for matching their highest ACT scores in school history!
