Cadets Spoil Spartans' Senior Day

St. Thomas Academy used a dominant third quarter to rattle off 14 goals against a young Spartans defense.

The youth and relative inexperience of the Spartans boys lacrosse team was laid bare in Thursday night's 14-6 loss to St. Thomas Academy at Simley High School.

After playing to a 3-3 tie in the first quarter, the Cadets pulled ahead 8-4 in the second behind three goals from senior captain Sean Hickey.

An early third quarter goal brought the deficit to 8-5 and with momentum on their side the Spartans' chances of an upset looked promising.

But Simley appeared to lose its composure shortly thereafter, allowing St. Thomas to go on a 6-1 run to finish the game.

To add insult to injury, Thursday night was Parent's Night for Simley's seven seniors.
