What: Take a look at what the Inver Grove Heights Parks and Recreation Department has to offer for residents this summer. There will be hands-on opportunities for youngsters to check out our summer sports and activities. Registration for summer activities will be offered.

• 8:40-9:40 a.m.—Learn to Skate Summer Camp Information (ages 3 and up)
• 9-10 a.m. —Minnesota Volleyball Headquarters Contests, drills and skills, demos (ages 7-12)
• 10-11 a.m.—Minnesota Developmental Basketball Contests, drills and skills, demos (ages 7-12)
• 11-11:30 a.m.—Preschool Sports Soccer and T-ball game stations (ages 3-5)
• 11:30-noon—Music Together Interactive music demos (ages up to 5)
• Noon-1 p.m.—Zumba Atomic Karma Kids and Peaceful Parents interactive demos (ages 5-10)
• 9 a.m.-1 p.m.—Swimming lesson Information (ages 6 months and up)
• 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.—Kids ROCK informational open house (ages 5-12)

Where: Simley Theater, , 2920 E. 80th St., Inver Grove
Heights
What: The Awesome Children’s Theater tells the true story of the Titanic disaster through the eyes of real-life passengers 6-year-old Douglas Spedden and 17-year-old Jack Thayer. ACT is funded by Northern Dakota County Tri-District Community Education youth programs and is under the direction of children’s theater artist Rudd Rayfield.

Where: Hill-Murrary School, 2625 Larpenteur Avenue E., Maplewood,
What: The Simley High boys basketball team goes into the post-season as the sixth seed in the Section 4AAA tournament. The Spartans, 7-19 overall, open section play by visiting Classic Suburban Conference rival Hill-Murray at 7 p.m. Friday in Maplewood. The teams played twice during the regular season, with Hill-Murray winning 65-61 on Jan. 19 in Inver Grove Heights and 85-60 on Feb. 21 in Maplewood. Hill-Murray enters the post-season as the section’s third seed with a 16-10 overall record.
Waggin’s Tales at Inver Glen Library
When: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10
Where: Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave, Inver Grove Heights
What: There aren't many things that beat reading to a pooch. Bring your children to the library to read to certified therapy dogs. The activity is open to children ages 5 to 10.
