Jung was a three-year letter winner in softball at Simley—achieving all-conference honorable mention recognition in '01 and '02 and all-state honorable mention in '03.

"I'm looking forward to taking over what has historically been a successful program," Jung told Patch. "We have some great leadership from the upperclassmen and some raw young talent. It's an honor to coach for the program that I played for, and I hope to build a strong foundation of focus and discipline that will lead to success."

In college, Jung continued her softball success at St. Mary's University in Winona, Minn. She was named one of the best players in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) in '06 and given all-conference honorable mention in '05 and '07. She was also named to the all-region second team in '06 and '07.

Jung still ranks among SMU's top ten players of all time in categories including games played (161), home runs (12) and RBIs (126).

Jung was also named to the MIAC all-academic team during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons and served as captain of the SMU softball team before graduating magna cum laude in 2007.

Jung was also a standout hockey player at both the high school and collegiate level. She won varsity letters five times ('98-'03) at Simley and four times ('03-'07) at SMU.
