Addison Scufsa competed at the 2nd annual National History Bee Regional Finals on March 26th in St. Paul.  The Regional Final was for those middle school students who performed well on a written qualifying exam over the winter.  Addison, a seventh grader at IGHMS, was able to score well enough in the three preliminary rounds at the Regional to land a spot in the top ten.  Although he did not win the Regional, he was among the 10 who have been invited to compete at the Nationals in Atlanta, GA on June 1, 2013.

The competition is a buzzer format with bonus points for how quickly one can answer within the round.  Questions consist of half U.S. History and half World History.  It is a fast paced competition which relies on a vast knowledge of historical information ranging from world leaders to geographic namesakes to decisive court battles.
