Inver Hills 5k Raises Money for Student Scholarships

Registration is $20 for those who register by Oct. 5, and $25 on Oct 13—the day of the race.

Inver Hills Community College's Student Life division will host the third annual Run for the Hills 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the college.

The event is open to all and raises money to fund a student scholarship.

Registration is $20 for those who register by Oct. 5, and $25 the day of the race. The fee includes a long-sleeve T-shirt (advance registrants only), and snacks and beverages donated by local businesses.

Day-of registration begins at 8 a.m. Oct. 13 in the college's south parking lot, and the run/walk begins at 9 a.m. The route weaves around the Inver Hills campus and through the surrounding community.

Inver Hills alumnus Kevin Siem, who received the scholarship in 2011, said the funds raised through this event allowed him to stay afloat with his financial obligations while pursuing his dream of becoming a child psychologist.

He is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree at the University of Minnesota, where he is enrolled in the University Honors Program.
