UPDATE: ISD 199 Schools Boss Eyes Vacancy In 833

Dr. Jacobus is scheduled to be interviewed on May 8, with Dr. Haws following on May 9.

Update (May 7, 2012) District 199 Superintendent Dr. Deirdre Wells was not selected as a finalist in District 833's search for a new head of South Washington County Schools.

According to a statement from the district, Drs. Lolli Haws (Washington D.C.) and Keith Jacobus (Osseo, Minn.) were selected to move forward after Saturday's first round of interviews. 

Final interviews for the candidates are scheduled for May 8 at East Ridge High School in the Staff Development Room, and May 9 at the District Service Center in the Board Room, from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Original story (May 3, 2012) Inver Grove Community Schools Superintendent Dr. Deirdre Wells is being considered for the top spot in ISD 833

Wells is one of eight candidates being interviewed to fill the vacancy left after the last winter. 

The candidates being considered include: 

  • Dennis Dearden, current Superintendent for the Casa Grande Union High School District in Casa Grande, Ariz.
  • Dr. Lolli Haws, current Instructional Superintendent for District of Columbia Public Schools, Washington D.C.
  • Dr. Deborah Henton, current Superintendent for North Branch Public Schools in North Branch, Minn.
  • Dr. Gerald Hill, current Superintendent for Glenview School District in Glenview, Ill.
  • Dr.Christopher Hines, current Deputy Superintendent for the Conroe Independent School District in Conroe, Texas.
  • Dr. Keith Jacobus, current Assistant Superintendent of Leadership, Teaching and Learning for the Osseo Area School District in Osseo, Minn.
  • Keith Rittel, current Deputy Superintendent for the Clover Park School District in Lakewood, Wash.

First round interviews are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on May 5. Following the final interview on Saturday, the board will decide which two or three candidates will move forward as finalists.

All staff and the general public will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions of the three finalists on May 8-10 at the District offices. 

The selected candidate is scheduled to be approved at the school board meeting on May 24, with duties beginning July 1.
