"Malicious Behavior" Floods Inver Grove Heights Middle School Bathroom

A fire extinguisher was discharged and the boys locker room flooded on Tuesday at the Inver Grove Heights Middle School, according to a letter from the associate principal.

Editor's Note: The following is a letter sent from Inver Grove Heights Middle School Associate Principal Barbara Lake to parents and community members on Tuesday afternoon.

This message is to notify you that today, Tuesday, September 27, 2011, in an act of malicious behavior, a fire extinguisher was expelled in the IGHMS boys’ locker room and the room was then flooded.  Because of this act, it is advised that all personal effects and clothing contained in the lockers, including all sporting materials be wiped off or laundered. Tomorrow, the school will provide students with anti-bacterial wipes to clean off books, binders or other classroom supplies that might have been in the lockers.

Upon investigation of the residue from the fire extinguisher, by our district's Health and Safety Coordinator as well as the Inver Grove Heights Fire Chief, it has been determined that there is no cause for concern regarding toxicity or of any danger to one’s health. But, to be safe, please advise your student to bring all contents of their lockers home to be cleaned.
