PHOTOS: Middle School Students Celebrate End of the School Year
An end-of-school-year party for middle school students is "first big event" organized by the Inver Grove Heights Middle School's Youth Leadership Council.
As soon as the last day of school finished on Thursday, students from Inver Grove Heights Middle School headed to Oakwood Park for a shindig to celebrate summer.
The first end-of-the-school-year party was planned and promoted entirely by the Youth Leadership Council—comprised of nine members in sixth through eighth grades—in partnership with TriDistrict Community Education and the city of Inver Grove Heights.
The Shindig was the “first big event” organized by the Youth Leadership Council, according to Lisa Grathen, Community Education Youth Programs and Resource Development Coordinator, addressing the challenge: “When kids get out [of school], what do they do?”
