Simley Girls Skaters Play Final Section Game Tonight

The Spartans will face the South St. Paul Packers, last year's Class A state runner up.

In the second sectional game the Simley High School girls hockey team came out on top of Minnehaha with a final score of 3-0.

The team is headed to the final section game tonight, Feb. 17 against South St. Paul at 7 p.m. at the St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights.

Forward Jessica Pate scored two of the teams goals – one in the first and third period. Lexi Muller flung one in the back of the net in the second period.

Pate and Sydney Knutson are the team’s point leaders in section games with three apiece and Laken Muller has one point.

The Spartans got off 37 shots (8.1 shooting percent) on Minnehaha while the opponent shot nine.

Goalie Emma Tschida has shut out both section opponents for 33 saves in the past two games.

In tonight’s match up with the Packers, the 2010-11 Class A state runner up, the Spartans face defenseman Samantha LaShomb, one of the top 10 candidates for Ms. Hockey.
