Simley Wrestlers Rule at 4AA Sections
Simley HS is sending wrestlers to the individual state tournament in 12 out of 14 weight classes.
BOYS WRESTLING Simley’s Wrestlers were dominant at last weekend’s individual section tournament, winning 10 section titles, and placing second in two other categories. The best two wrestlers in each category move on the the individual state tournament, on March 2 and 3 at the Xcel Center in St. Paul. Simley wil also compete in the team tounamnet, the next day at the same venue.
Winners were: Cortez Arrendondo (106 lbs), Kyle Gliva (113), Juan Torres (126), McKinnon Short (138), Jake Short (145), Nick Wanzek (152), Micah Barnes (170), Cody Hazelett (195), Jackson Ryan (220), and Matt Kadrlik (285)
Stephan Mincey (132 lbs) and Logan Busch (160) qualified in second place.

GIRLS BASKETBALL Simley plays St. Paul Harding Wednesday night (7:00pm) in a section playoffs quarterfinal.
BOYS BASKETBALL Simley lost to Hill-Murray (85-60) last Tuesday, and got a much needed ‘W’ at South Saint Paul on Friday (61-51). The Spartans’ John Spillane led all scorers in Friday’s game with 20 points. Simley plays Richfield and Mahtomedi this week.

BOYS HOCKEY Goalie Luke Beaudoin’s 33 saves were not enough to prevent elimination in the section quarterfinals. The Spartans fell 3-0 to South St. Paul.
