PHOTOS: Briguet's Section-Qualifying Swim Leads Simley

Simley High swimmers and divers fared well in the Classic Suburban Conference junior varsity meet Thursday

Normally an eighth-place finish in a junior varsity meet isn't all that much to shout about, but that was exactly what brought the Simley High swimmers to their feet Thursday.

Simley seventh grader Justin Briguet finished sixth in the boys 500 yard freestyle in the Classic Suburban Conference boys' swimming and diving junior varsity meet Thursday at Veterans Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights. But is was Briguet's time of 6:07.65 that got the Spartans excited. That time qualifed him for the section meet.

Simley coaches and swimmers lined the sides of the pool to enthusiastically celebrate Briguet's swim.
