The Spartans face a talented and deep field Saturday at the University of Minnesota. Ths meet will help Simley prepare for the section title later this season.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Max Wellens—Simley
Wellens set a personal record at last year’s section 3AA meet. He had a strong junior season, finishing third at the Dakota County meet and fifth at the Mayo Invite. He also earned medalist honors at the Simley Invitational.
Christian Goettsch—Simley
The senior also set a personal record in the Section 3AA Championship last season. He is a long-time runner who has made steady improvement throughout his career.
Connor Phares—Simley
Phares has been on the cross country team since his freshman year. The captain battled bronchitis last season to post a career best at the Section 3AA Championships.
