Rough Stretch For Spartans

Simley baseball, boys lacrosse teams still looking for first wins heading into this week.

It's been a rough stretch for the Simley sports teams as the Spartans baseball and boys lacrosse teams remained winless with the first month of the season coming to a close.

Baseball: Spartans Now 0-7

The Simley baseball team dropped a 9-2 decision at Classic Suburban Conference rival Mahtomedi on Monday to fall to 0-7 on the season.

Brody Schintz leads the Spartans with a .462 batting average, while Conner Lewis and Jordan Pedersen both pace the squad with five RBIs each; Lewis has also recorded a team-high six runs scored.

Simley is scheduled to host Tartan on Wednesday, before traveling to South St. Paul on Thursday. The first pitch for both games is 4:15pm.

Boys Lacrosse: Rosemount 22, Spartans 2

A 22-2 home loss to Rosemount last Thursday dropped the Simley boys lacrosse team to 0-3 on the season heading into a scheduled game versus St. Thomas Academy on Tuesday.

Tony Armstrong leads the Spartans with four goals on the season, while Kellen Asmundson and Brandon Hagen have netted two goals each so far this spring.

Softball: Spartans Fall To 1-4

Back-to-back losses to Classic Suburban rivals North St. Paul and Hill-Murray on Thursday and Monday, respectively, dropped the Simley softball team to 1-4 this year.

Individual season stats were not available. The Spartans are scheduled to host South St. Paul on Wednesday and travel to Tartan on Thursday; start times for both games is 4:15pm.

Boys Golf: Spartans Second At Hillcrest

The Simley boys golf team finished second in a Classic Suburban triangular meet at Hillcrest Country Club last Thursday with a team card of 172. Individual results were not available.

Boys Tennis: Henry Sibley 7, Simley 0

The Simley boys tennis team was shut out, 7-0, by conference foe Henry Sibley last Thursday. Individual results were not available.
