Seven Simley Wrestlers Remain Unbeaten At State
The Spartans resume their quests for individual titles Saturday in St. Paul
One day after claiming its fourth straight team title, the Simley wrestling team advanced seven wrestlers to the Class AA state individual semifinals at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
The Spartans picked up perfect days from Kyle Gliva (103 pounds), Pedro DeLao (119), Matt Kruse (135), Jake Short (140), Nick Wanzek (145) Dan Dick (152) and Micah Barnes (160). Each will resume wrestling in Saturday’s state semifinals at 11:15 a.m.
Simley also has a wrestler still alive in the wrestlebacks bracket. Mack Short lost his second match Friday and will compete in Saturday’s consolation quarterfinals at 130 pounds. His match will begin at 10 a.m.
