The Simley High boys basketball team’s season ended Friday night when the Spartans lost to Hill-Murrary, 81-44, in the quarterfinal round of the Section 4AAA playoffs in Maplewood.
John Spillane led Simley—the seventh seed in the section playoffs—in scoring with eight points. Sam Stensgard and Connor Wells each had seven points.
The Spartans finished the season with a 7-20 record.
Third-seed Hill-Murrary, 17-10, moves on to face second-seeded St. Thomas Academy in Tuesday’s section semifinals. St. Thomas Academy defeated St. Paul Harding, 73-35, on Friday.
In other section action on Friday, St Paul Johnson, the section’s top seed, topped eighth-seeded South St. Paul, 100-34; and fifth-seeded St. Paul Central topped fourth-seeded St. Paul Highland Park, 81-62. Johnson will play Central in Tuesday’s other section semifinal game.
