Simley Catcher Signs to Play Softball at Augustana

Maggie Kadrlik, of Inver Grove Heights, committed to the South Dakota school during the early signing period.

Maggie Kadrlik of Inver Grove Heights is one of five students to sign with the Augustana College softball team during the early signing period, the school announced Wednesday.

Kadrlik—a 5-foot-6 catcher at Simley High School—has had a standout high school career. She batted .432 as a junior with 16 hits, including two doubles and a triple with four RBIs. She compiled a .964 fielding percentage as a catcher and outfielder, with 24 putouts and three assists with just one error.

Kadrlik, who’s in her senior year, was named all-conference as a junior and all-conference honorable mention as a sophomore after being named her team's rookie of the year as a freshman.
"Maggie, who is also a gymnast, is a very explosive athlete who is just starting to tap into her potential as a softball player," the release quoted Augustana Head Softball Coach Gretta Melsted. "In my 16 years of coaching, I have never seen someone throw a ball harder than Maggie. In addition, she is a force to reckon with at the plate and squares the ball up and has a lot of power."
