Spartans Girls Golf, Softball Start May Off Right

A pair of Simley girls sports teams got the week started off right with victories as the Spartans entered the second month of the spring season on Monday.

Girls Golf: Pate Earns Co-Medalist Honors In Simley Win

Jessica Pate earned co-medalist honors with a round of 50 to lead the Simley High School girls golf team to a win in a Classic Suburban Conference meet at Mendakota Golf Club on Monday. The Spartans carded a round of 221.

Softball: Simley Wins Second Game Of Season

The Simley softball team won its second game of the season on Monday, 8-4, against visiting Mahtomedi on Monday.

Individual results were not available. The Spartans improved to 2-7 overall and 2-6 in the Classic Suburban with the victory and now prepare to host Richfield on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.

Baseball: Spartans Fall To 0-10

A 2-0 loss at Richfield on Monday dropped the Simley baseball team to 0-10 on the season, with a home game against St. Thomas Academy coming up at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Brody Schintz leads the Spartans with a .397 batting average, with Jordan Pedersen and Logan Busch tied for the team lead in runs batted in with six apiece and Connor Lewis' eight runs scored pacing the club.

Boys Tennis: Spartans Improve To 5-3

The Simley boys tennis team defeated Tartan, 5-2, April 28 to improve to 5-3 on the season. Results from a scheduled match on Monday versus South St. Paul were not available, nor were individual statistics.

Boys Lacrosse: Rochester John Marshall/Lourdes 11, Simley 5

An 11-5 loss to visiting Rochester John Marshall/Lourdes on Monday dropped the Simley boys lacrosse team to 0-6 on the year.

Kellen Asmundson led the Spartans with two goals, while Bill Haggerty, Joe Trenzeluk and Brandon Hagen each scoring one apiece in the loss.

Simley hosts Hill-Murray on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Boys Golf: Spartans Third At Inverwood

The Simley boys golf team took third in a Classic Suburban meet at Inverwood on April 29 with a score of 169. Results from a Monday meet at White Bear Lake Yacht Club were not available, nor were individual statistics.
