Photos & Results: Maple Grove Triathlon 2012

In its third year, the Maple Grove Triathlon brought out more than a 1,000 athletes to Park in Maple Grove (Minn.) Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012.

Triathletes chose between the Dare to Sprint which included a .3 mile swim, 14 mile bike ride and three mile run or the longer The Olympic Dare course of .9 miles, 26 mile bike ride and 6.2 mile run.

The top finisher in The Olympic Dare was Kris Spoth (2:03:07) of Ames, IA followed by Patrick Parish of Bloomington and Andrew Turner of Sioux Falls, SD. 

Local results from the Olympic triathlon include the following: 

EAGAN

• Brian Freeman - 3:22:24 overall (swim 28:38; ride 1:36:07; run 1:13:12)
• Ryan Hanke - 2:41:33 overall (swim 29:23; ride 1:21:39; run 46:24)
• Mike Berkopec - 2:31:27 overall (swim 31:52; ride 1:10:44; run 44:42)

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS 

• Shannon Holliday - 3:02:44 overall (swim 26:27; ride 1:35:56; run 56:23)

MENDOTA HEIGHTS

• Patrick Egan - 3:04:51 overall (swim 27:18; ride 1:27:35; run 1:06:34)
• Katie Wold - 2:50:14 overall (swim 27:39; ride 1:27:29; run 50:53)

The top finisher in the Dare to Sprint was Trevor Bunkers (1:01:43) of Sioux Falls, SD followed by David Phillips of Maple Grove and Robert Brown of Hopkins.

• Mary McGrory Usset - 1:30:59 overall (swim 12:39; ride 49:23; run 24:29)
• Scott Lane - 1:27:41 overall (swim 13:04; ride 44:59; run 24:33)
• Emily Usset - 1:22:44 overall (swim 0:48; ride 49:09; run 26:23)
