IGH officials hope for a mix of retail, restaurants and service providers.
The commercial buildings at the new Argenta Hills development in Inver Grove Heights are ready and waiting for tenants. Tom Link, community development director for Inver Grove Heights, said the three buildings were finished in November. “Our understanding is they are getting pretty close to putting some leases together, but the owner has not told us yet,” Link said. The owner/developer of Argenta Hills, near the intersection of Robert Trail S. and Hwy. 55, is McGough Construction. The mixed-use area is anchored by the Super Target store, which opened mid-2012. Argental Hills includes residential neighborhoods to the north, with about 150 homes, and commercial development space. Each of the three commercial buildings could accommodate …

Now that a Target is moving toward completion in Inver Grove Heights, you will go there to shop? The city’s 135,000-square-foot Target store, just north of the Highway 55-South Robert Trail, is expected to open in July. The Inver Grove Heights store—which will feature general merchandise, as well as a selection of groceries, produce, meat and prepackaged baked goods—will employ roughly 200 people. Among those people hoping for a success launch are Inver Grove Heights city officials, who are expecting the store to spur economic development in the Argenta Hills area, the mixed-use development which the big-box store anchors. You can read more about the store in an article that posted Wednesday on Inver Grove Heights Patch. Read that article …

City Adminstrator Joe Lynch says the retailer is planning winter construction for the new, 135,000-square-foot store.
The building permit application is in, and machinery is on the move at the site of a new, 135,000-square-foot Target store west of South Robert Trail in Inver Grove Heights. And both of those are good signs as far as City Administrator Joe Lynch is concerned. “We understand that they’re going to do winter construction, so in a matter of four weeks or so, we’ll see things starting to rise out of the ground,” Lynch said late last week. Earlier this summer, the Inver Grove Heights City Council decided to go forward with a $1.25 million deal with IGH Investments, LLC., the developer behind the Argenta Hills project, which includes the Target store now under construction. As part of the deal, the council chose to issue $1.25 million in …

Patch looks back on the events, people and issues that made the headlines last week.
Inver Grove Heights Patch's most popular story this week was a feature on local resident Jake Lundell, a 38-year-old father and volunteer firefighter who underwent a kidney transplant 10 years ago, only to have his transplanted organ fail late last year. Now, Lundell spends more than 10 hours a week undergoing dialysis while he looks for another donor. After a raucous, two-hour public hearing, the Inver Grove Heights City Council voted 3-2 to move forward with a $1.25 million deal with Inver Grove Heights Investments, LLC., the developer behind the stalled Argenta Hills project. Under the deal, the city will issue a forgivable loan to the developer to jumpstart development in Argenta Hills. The School District 199 School Board also made a …

After a tense, emotional public hearing, the Inver Grove Heights City Council decided to move forward on a deal that will likely bring a Target and other commercial development to the city.
The lingering silence that followed the Inver Grove Heights City Council’s decision to go forward with a $1.25 million development deal stood in stark contrast to the rest of the emotionally charged public hearing on Monday night. The raucous two-hour-long hearing—called so area residents could comment on the proposed deal between the city and IGH Investments, LLC., the developer behind the Argenta Hills project—was punctuated by catcalls from the audience, yelling and groans of frustration. “We act like a two-bit you-know-what that can’t get a date,” Inver Grove Heights resident Dian Piekarski, an opponent of the deal, said during a particularly tense portion of the hearing. “Inver Grove is better than that, we should sit here and we …

Patch looks back on the events, people and issues that made the headlines last week.
Patch kicked off the week with a feature story on a proposal to restore two historic buildings and relocate both structures to Heritage Village Park along Concord Boulevard. The buildings, an old schoolhouse and the former village hall, are currently in disrepair, but city leaders and proponents of the plan say both are valuable assets and links to the past. The state government shutdown dominated the news last week, both locally and across the metro area. Patch spoke with City Administrator Joe Lynch and Sen. Jim Metzen to find out what could be affected by the shutdown, and followed up with a series of stories and updates over the course of the week. Roughly 90 athletes from Inver Grove Heights are participating in an eight-week summer …
