Ban on Feeding Deer Considered by Inver Grove Heights

When deer crowd together in feeding areas, it makes it easier for diseases to spread, according to the Department of Natural Resources.

The Inver Grove Heights city council is considering regulations that would outlaw feeding deer. The city has received a number of complaints about damage to yards from the high deer population. The city of Inver Grove Heights has more in a press release: Comments from the Department of Natural Resources indicate that overfeeding of deer may encourage large numbers of animals to congregate in feeding areas making it easier for diseases to be passed among the animals. It can also cause a disruption to their normal travel routes, which in turn may cause an increased potential for traffic accidents.
