Fourteen-time Felon Pleads Not Guilty to Latest Charges, Trial Date Set

A Dakota County judge scheduled David Allen Dahl's jury trial for April 23.

A 51-year-old South St. Paul man convicted of 14 prior felony offenses waived his right to a speedy trial on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to 10 new counts against him. Dakota County District Court Judge Bernard Borene found sufficient probable cause in the cases against David Allen Dahl to charge the man with eight felonies and two misdemeanors. Borene scheduled Dahl's settlement conference for April 4 and, if necessary, a jury trial for April 23. Inver Grove Heights police issued a warrant for Dahl's arrest last November in connection with a string of crimes including vehicle theft, second-degree burglary and terroristic threats spanning from March to December 2011. A review of Dahl's criminal history revealed more than 21 aliases and…

The woman told an officer that she believed it was her ex-boyfriend's girlfriend who had committed the act. Police spoke with the ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend, who denied any wrongdoing and told an officer the victim may have written on her own car because "she is crazy." Oct. 5 4:45 p.m.—Police responded to a report of disorderly conduct on the 1100 block of 70th St. Oct. 7 5 p.m.—Police responded to a theft/damage to property incident on the 2700 block of 117th St. According to the report, a thief through a chainlink fence at Ferrell Gas, entered an unlocked semi trailer and stole copper tubing. Oct. 8 7 a.m.— Police responded to the 3100 block of 65th St. on a report of a domestic assault. When the officer arrived, he found a woman with a red left eye that looked like it was starting to bruise. She told police her live-in boyfriend punched her three times in the eye following an argument about his infidelity. Sept. 12 8:59 p.m.— A good deed didn't pay off for one 57-year-old Inver Grove Heights man, who told police that a 46-year-old man assaulted him after the older man went to help him tie up his boat. Police responded to the call on the 4400 block of 66th St. E. and spoke with both men, who have a history of violent disputes. The older man told officers he sprayed the younger man in the face with pepper spray after the younger man began shoving him. The younger man disagreed, saying the 57-year-old sprayed him without provocation. Neither was charged with assault, but police advised the two to stay away from each other. Sept. 19 8:28 …
