Inver Grove Heights Police Apprehend Subject of Nationwide Manhunt

Blake Syed Uddin was arrested Sunday and is free on bond.

A man being sought by authorities in connection with a series of carjackings in Inver Grove Heights last month has been arrested. A nationwide warrant was issued Aug. 26 for Blake Syed Uddin, 30, whom police say successfully stole a victim’s car on Aug. 23 and attempted to steal three others. Uddin's spree allegedly began in a parking lot at Inver Hills Community College. Shortly after making off with one vehicle, police said Uddin caused an accident and then was hit by a van as he ran from the scene through traffic on Hwy. 52. Uddin is charged with three counts of attempted robbery and one count of theft, all felonies. He was arrested Sunday in Inver Grove Heights and released Tuesday on a $50,000 bond. Warrant Issued for Suspected Carjacker

Police say Blake Syed Uddin tried unsuccessfully to hijack at least three cars last week.

A nationwide arrest warrant has been issued for an Inver Grove Heights man charged with four felonies in connection with a series of successful and attempted carjackings last week. Blake Syed Uddin, 30, is charged with three counts of attempted robbery and one count of theft from a person, each of which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. According to the criminal complaint, Inver Grove Heights police were called to Inver Hills Community College just before 9:30 a.m. Aug. 23 after someone reported an attempted carjacking.
