Dakota County Sheriff Dave Bellows keeps you up-to-date on the latest county happenings.
So far this year, Dakota County staff have processed 1,537 new permit to carry applications, plus nearly 300 renewals and address changes, according to Dakota County Sheriff Dave Bellows. In 2012, which broke the previous annual record by 65 percent, the county processed 2,814 permit forms over the course of the year. County staff are currently working overtime and weekends just to keep up with the permit demand, Bellows said in the weekly Sheriff's newsletter. Wayne James Matier is charged with aggravated forgery, which is punishable by up to 10 years in jail and a fine of between $6,000 and $10,000. According to a Dakota County criminal complaint released this week: Matier was driving in the area of Hampton Boulevard and 230th Street in Hampton on Sept. 20, 2012, when his car was stopped by a Dakota County Sheriff’s deputy, who learned the car’s license plate registration had expired. Dakota County Sheriff Dave Bellows said the county received 30 requests Monday and 26 Tuesday—about three times higher than the seven-10 applications processed in a typical day. Those that want to restrict gun ownership and are focused on any rifle at all have there attention grossly missplaced. As the previous poster above stated, rifles account for an extrely small portion of gun crime, scary black rifles an even small portion still.
