2nd Annual Aviation Inspiration Day Cleared For Takeoff

"I tell girls that they donʼt need to wait around for the knight in shining armor. These girls need flight plans, not fairy tales," Meeks said.

Editor's note: The following is a press release from Lynda Meeks. Kids often dream about what they want to be when they grow up. One woman has made it her mission to help young girls dream with their heads in the clouds—literally. Girls With Wings will host its second annual Aviation Inspiration Day at Fleming Field on Sat., May 26. The event will teach the general public about the different facets of the aviation industry. Lynda Meeks, the founder of Girls With Wings, hosted the first annual Aviation Inspiration Day in 2011 and saw more than 250 families turn out for the event. Measurable rain began falling in northern Dakota County shortly after midnight, alleviating—at least for the time being—the fire threat. Sunday’s temperature reached a record high of 66 at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, the National Weather Service said. The previous record of 61 was set in 1902. A high of 65 was recorded at the …

Heading Outdoors Today?

The National Weather Service is forecasting above-normal temperatures and sunny skies today. Is Spring just around the corner?

So, are you going outside for a walk today? The National Weather Service is predicting a glorious day for Inver Grove Heights. Today's forecast calls for sunny skies, a southerly breeze and a high temperature of 56 degrees. At 10 a.m., the temperature already had reached 40 degrees at Fleming Field in South St. Paul. Considering the average high temperature for March 6 is 36 degrees, that mid-morning temperature didn’t feel too bad. While the mid-50s will feel balmy, today's high isn’t expected to come near the record high for the day, the weather service says. The record high for this date is 72 degrees, occurring in 2000. The forecast for the rest of this week is calling for above-normal temperatures and, for the most part, sunny skies. …
