First Day of Fall Could Include Frost in Inver Grove

A freeze warning is in effect for the area Saturday night—just in time for the Autumnal Equinox.

Ring in the first day of Fall today with some possible frost tonight. The National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch for tonight and into tomorrow morning for all of central and southern Minnesota and west central Wisconsin. The watch has been issued from 1-8 a.m. Temperatures will dip into the mid 20s Sunday morning in the metro and the mid 30s for the urban core of the Twin Cities. The NWA reports a cold dome of Canadian high pressure moved in behind a strong cold front Friday night and is centering across the state by Sunday morning.  The colder weather will mean clear skies and calm winds though. Cover Your Plants: Freeze Warning Issued for Dakota County

The National Weather Service is warning that freezing temperatures are highly likely overnight between Monday and Tuesday, putting some plants at risk.

  The National Weather Service is warning that temperatures will likely fall below freezing overnight between Monday and Tuesday in the Twin Cities metro area, especially in riverside suburbs like Inver Grove Heights. Freeze warnings are generally issued when temperatures are likely to dip below 28 degrees for more than three hours. That's the point, generally speaking, when most plants are in danger of freezing and dying. Freezing temperatures are highly likely between 1 and 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to the weather service warning. And we're not alone.
