Letter to the Editor: Nancy Schouweiler Deserves Re-Election

Former Inver Grove Heights Mayor Vance Grannis Jr. writes in support of County Commissioner Nancy Schouweiler.

Dear Editor: Nancy Schouweiler has a proven record of serving the best interests of Dakota County residents. Leadership is something many claim, but Schouweiler has a record of leadership that has been recognized by local, state and national County organizations. She has been a leader in County Government for cost efficient services that have resulted in Dakota County having the lowest county tax rate in Minnesota. “Approachable” is a good description for Nancy. She is patient and willing to listen to citizens’ concerns, even if they differ from her own. She has a reputation for treating everyone with respect. Nancy has been a strong advocate for preserving Open Space and creating Parks and Trails in the County. She was a leader in seeing …

Letter to the Editor: Planning Commissioner Backs Bartholomew

Armando Lissarrague serves with City Council candidate Tom Bartholomew on the Planning Commission.

Dear Editor: It has been my privilege to serve on the Planning Commission with Tom Bartholomew for the past 1-1/2 years. I have found Mr. Bartholomew to be very dedicated, knowledgeable and professional as chairman of the Planning Commission. I believe that he will be an asset on the Inver Grove Heights City Council, as he works with Mayor Tourville, Councilman Dennis Madden and Councilwoman Rosemary Piekarski-Krech. Letter to the Editor: Mandell Would Bring Expertise, Passion to IGH

Herb Pilhofer writes in support of City Council candidate Paul Mandell.

Dear Editor, When there is a candidate who brings professional expertise in planning along with a passion for our city and one who would work with a forward vision for our city, that is a candidate I would fully endorse.  Paul Mandell IS that candidate and I will be voting for him this Tuesday, Nov. 6.  My family moved to Inver Grove Heights 21 years ago. Not only were we attracted to its beautiful environment but also to the quality of the people we met, people like Paul.  I’ve known him throughout those years and his advice and input in my involvement and planning of Argenta Hills was invaluable. Our city is fortunate to have many exceptional people serving it. Paul should be one of them.  I strongly urge you to vote “Paul Mandell!” Herb…

Letter to the Editor: Mandell Would Be Great Leader on City Council

Mary T'Kach says council candidate Paul Mandell will “help lead our community to being a robust, healthy, tech savvy and affordable community.”

Dear Editor: Residents in Inver Grove Heights have the opportunity to put a great leader on the City Council on Tuesday.  Paul Mandell has served our community in a variety of capacities - as a school board member, Planning Commission member and a Housing Committee member. I am familiar with Paul's service and dedication to Inver Grove Heights over the years, and more recently have had the pleasure of working with him on the Housing Committee. I know Paul has a vision for our community that meets the complex needs of the residents, academic institutions, non-profit and for-profit businesses and who are a part of our community today and those that will come in the future. Paul is a listener, a problem solver, a respected and dedicated …

Letter to the Editor: Tom Bartholomew is Committed to Controlling Spending Without Sacrificing Services

Former IGH mayor Vance Grannis, Jr. says Bartholomew has extensive knowledge of the issues facing the city.

Dear Editor:  Inver Grove Heights is fortunate to have four very good candidates for city council. However, only two of them will be elected on Nov. 6, 2012. It is great to have an election where you can vote “for” a candidate rather than for the “lesser of two evils” or against some other candidate. I urge voters to include Tom Bartholomew as one of your choices for city council. Over the years I have served on City Task Forces with Tom and have had an opportunity to observe first hand his leadership, professionalism and careful consideration of various city issues. Tom is committed to controlling spending without sacrificing funding for essential city services. Tom not only has proven experience in the private sector, but he also has …

Letter to the Editor: City Council Candidate Looks at Community Building

Paul Mandell hopes to bring his energy, experience and expertise to help Inver Grove Heights become a better place to live.

Dear Editor:  I have attended numerous city council work sessions of the council during these past few months as they develop capital improvements and operating budgets for 2013, and have found the council to be making some very thoughtful decisions about budget reductions and belt tightening, which contrary to some people, has been going on for several years. They are striving to wean the city budgets off the Host Community Fund and other funds balances, cautiously approaching that goal where all budgets will be balanced without extra help beyond net revenue. My campaign for city council has always been based on my varied level of experience that I feel best qualifies me for council, from service on City Task Forces, including the current…
