Christopher Cubie has been charged with malicious punishment of a child, which is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of between $900 and $3,000. He is accused of striking the boy—who considered Cubie to be his grandfather even though they were not related, according to court documents—after not taking a bath and for poor grades on Jan. 3. Darnell Louis Frazier has been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, as well as three misdemeanor traffic crimes, as result of the traffic stop. According to a Dakota County criminal complaint released last week: Frazier was pulled over in West St. Paul on April 21 for allegedly driving after suspension.
