Inver Grove Heights Labyrinth Provides Peace, Meditation
St. Anne's Episcopal Church members use a millennia-old form for meditation and prayer.
It's one of the last things you'd expect to see at a local church: A labyrinth, modeled after the ancient Greek maze that supposedly contained the monstrous Minotaur. While it doesn't harbor any ferocious, bull-headed creatures, the labyrinth at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Inver Grove Heights does have a surprisingly modern purpose. Church members and the public frequently use it as a means of personal meditation and prayer, according to St. Anne's Episcopal Church Rector Lydia Huttar Brown. Constructed on church grounds in 2005, the labyrinth is 70 feet in diameter and was designed by Doug Rude and veteran landscape architect Denny Thompson, both members of St. Anne's.
