Mayor Minute: Tourville on Standoff with Armed IGH Man

Mayor George Tourville thanked the police department for safely resolving a standoff with an armed Inver Grove Heights man.

Mayor George Tourville spoke with Inver Grove Heights Patch about the six-hour, late December standoff between police and an armed, possibly suicidal man who holed up in a home on the 8000 block of Claymore Avenue East. Tourville thanked the city's police department for safely resolving the situation.

UPDATED: Standoff With Armed IGH Man Ends in SWAT Team Arrest (AUDIO)

Update, 5:10 p.m.: About six hours after police first arrived at an Inver Grove Heights home, a standoff with an armed, possibly suicidal, man has been resolved, according to police scanner reports. Audio has been added to this article, courtesy of Police Clips.  A SWAT team entered the home on the 8000 block of Claymore Avenue East and detained the suspect, according to to police scanners. Update, 4:40 p.m.: As of 4:15 p.m. Friday, Inver Grove Heights Police were still involved in a standoff with an armed man at a home in Inver Grove Heights on the 8000 block of Claymore Avenue East. Inver Grove Heights Police Called to Fatal Standoff in Mendota Heights

Law enforcement officers from 11 different agencies commandeered part of Lexington Avenue for more than eight hours and evacuated a townhouse complex.

The suspect in a standoff at Hillside Gables Townhomes Wednesday evening died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a statement from the Mendota Heights Police Department. A remote camera located the body of Donald Paul Richardson, age 42, shortly before midnight. His death was confirmed by Dakota County’s Mutual Assistance Aid Group (MAAG), said the statement.  The confirmation of Richardson’s death brought with it the end of a lengthy law enforcement response rarely seen in Mendota Heights. A woman called Dakota County dispatch around 4:30pm from the residence to report a domestic assault situation. She said that the suspect was getting a gun.
