A nationwide arrest warrant has been issued for Patrick Scherer, 26, on four felony charges possession of child pornography.

Patrick Scherer is charged with four counts of felony possession of pornographic work involving minors. Each count in punishable by up to five years in jail and a fine of between $1,500 and $5,000. According to the Dakota County criminal complaint released this week: Inver Grove Heights Police was contacted by the Bureau of Crime Apprehension about file sharing of suspected child pornography last December. The child pornography charges against football coach Todd Hoffner have many parents asking what types of photos are appropriate.
Child pornography is usually pretty clear-cut. That’s what former Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner told Minnesota Public Radio on Thursday. The cases she handled were typically “pretty hardcore stuff” that were easily identifiable as child pornography. But that’s not so clear in the case of Todd Hoffner, the Minnesota State University—Mankato football coach charged with making pornographic videos of his children. On Wednesday, Hoffner’s attorney told a court the videos found on Hoffner’s work phone were of innocent family moments with his children—who were between the ages of 4 and 9 years old. Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced today that parents Mark Matthew Cortes and Amanda Lee Hughes, both 24 years old, have been charged with multiple crimes associated with the abuse, endangerment and neglect of their daughter. Specifically, the following charges have been filed: Matthew Mark Cortes Amanda Lee Hughes According to the charges, Mark Cortes sexually abused his daughter and filmed the abuse, then distributing the images to others.
